What about the panels? What do you think of exactly? Painting the wall is a bit difficult as we must have it white afterwards again. We didn't calculated this works in our budget so far.
concerning the set up: it is the best to talk and discuss with me at this moment. We have two video mixers (Humark AVM 02, S-VHS and chinch connectors for two sources), one camera HVR-A1E , two Display monitors Numark AVM 03 and some projectors here, too. What about the green screen technique? Are you doing it? I have a woman who is "Kamerafrau". She will accompany you during carnival and the next weeks with our camera.
what about the streaming technique? Are you aware of it? So far I am thinking of hiring someone (and I have ideas for this also).
Dear Christoph,
I think the video mixer and camera should work out fine. We will also need mice and an audio mixer as well as audio monitors.
A.)
yes, we are planning on using green screen technique in few ways
1. with the video we make at carnival -- we will in the edit, replace the green of our costumes, with imagery from various sources (TBD). This video will be projected in the space in ways we have yet to determine (either simply on a monitor, or on the wall, or possibly in the live mix).
** As we get closer to the dates of our arrival, it would be good to plan out a bit the shooting of the carnival video. For example, I would like to, if possible, 'scout' out locations ahead of time, and also if possible have a good idea of the carnival parade route, so that we can 'play' with that a bit. In terms of scouting out, I mean: to go ahead of time to locations where the carnival will be, and see what kind of shots we can make.
Key points
- Scout out locations before Carnival starts
- Map of Carnival route
** Our general concept now is to shoot a sequence of us moving through, in and out, of carnival, carrying on a discussion regarding the state of avant-garde/experimental performance art/theater today (text to be developed in the next few weeks), touching on the urgency of it, the need for a non-spectacle form of performance art today, what current practices in contemporary experimental, post-dramatic theater/performance bring to individuals/society/etc. (such as a very different level of intimacy then can be ever achieved in the giant spectacle drunken quasi-release of mega events such as Carnival, big Broadway type shows, big Cabaret type performance, etc.)... in the current local and global neo-liberal world order, etc....
** Technical note 1: The sound of our dialogue will be dubbed in later, adding a layer of distance in a way. And as such, we need to record sounds at carnival. Which raises a question: does FFT have a good field recording device we could use?
** Technical note 2: I have a Canon 7D with very good lenses. I do not have an on-camera monitor for it. This is necessary -particularly when using the glide-cam. Does FFT have an on-camera monitor such as like this, we could use: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/903389-REG/ikan_VK7i_E6_7_IPS_LCD.html
Key points
- Field Recording Device
- On-Camera Monitor
2. Live green screen technique during conversations in studio-- this will require use of material (see Walther pdf for examples of some inspirational starting points for us, such as the image of the four people with material below their knees, standing facing each other in a square of material, which alludes to a very low table, as if they are standing inside the table)
** We have selected the material from some options that Thera (costume designer) has found. She will send to you, Christof, quite soon. Lets discuss how much material we will need. Further I am wondering if there is perhaps a sewing machine at FFT!? So that we could quickly make shapes and pieces and if we need to just very fast sew up the edges.
Key points
- how much material
- sewing machine

B.)
Streaming Technique
We would like to have available for use.
** Does FFT have server space adequate for this and a person who can do the code work? I do not expect will have more then 100 live watchers/listeners at any given time, so it does not need to be a server space the size of Facebook! by any means. Nonetheless there are specific technical aspects to this. Which are beyond my technical knowledge. However, I do know that some server companies restrict the use of streaming. I have server space but I do think it is restricted in how much streaming I can do, I can check on that, after you let me know the situation with FFT server space related to this.
********
Dear Andrew
so I got time to read and check.
concerning the parade route: this must be checked before monday of course. At the moment there is a route published. I attach it as pdf.
And I give you the contact to the "Kamerafrau" - this is Sandra Grutza. S.Grutza@gmx.net 0049-157 78860626
I guess it would be the best to talk about a recherche meeting with her directly.
We don't have a audio recording device and and on-camera monitor neither. So it must be rented I think.
